You may be inadvertently brushing the TouchPad with the heel of your hand as you type. Also, accidental light touches or taps on the TouchPad may select an item or text on the screen, and potentially the item or text may be replaced by the next character you type. . Temporarily disable the TouchPad, so that it does not respond to touch or button presses while you type. See “Disabling or enabling the TouchPad™” on page 80. . Disable the tapping feature. If you disable tapping only, you can still use the TouchPad’s control buttons and move the pointer by sliding your finger on the TouchPad. . Adjust the sensitivity of the TouchPad, so that it is less responsive to accidental light taps and lighter finger pressure. 80 80 80d Using external display devices NOTE TouchPad setting options vary by computer model. The TouchPad settings are accessible through the Mouse Properties option of the Windows Control Panel. For more information, please visit and enter the phrase “Mouse pointer jumps around as you type” into the Search field. Disabling or enabling the TouchPad™ The TouchPad™ is enabled by default. To enable/disable the TouchPad, do one of the following: . Press the TouchPad ON/OFF ( ) button. (Available on certain models.) . Press Fn + F9. For more information, see “Disabling or enabling the TouchPad™” on page 202. NOTE Alternately, you can disable only the tapping feature. Using external display devices Your computer comes with a built-in display, but you can also connect the following types of external display devices to the video ports described below: . An HDMI™-compatible television or external display device via the HDMI™ Out port* . An external monitor or projector via the RGB (monitor) port HDMI™ Out port* RGB (Monitor) port *Available on certain models (Sample Illustration) Video ports on left side of computer Getting Started Getting Started Using external display devices Selecting video cables To connect a device to the HDMI™ Out port, you must purchase an HDMI™ cable. Connecting an HDMI™-compatible television or external display device To connect an HDMI™-compatible television or external display device to the computer: . Connect one end of an HDMI™ cable (not included with your computer) to the HDMI™ Out port on the side of your computer, and then connect the other end of the cable to your television. Refer to the manual that came with the television for more information. Your computer will automatically detect the external display device. Connecting an external monitor or projector You can easily attach an external monitor or projector to your computer if you need a larger screen.
