Shows a 16:9 aspect ratio signal with black bands on left and right sides of the image. 16:9 aspect ratio TV Custom Settings [CUSTOM SETUP] Use this to set up playback related and other settings. Select [CUSTOM SETUP] in the Setup Display. To use the display, see “Using the Setup Display” (page 74). The default settings are underlined. Settings and Adjustments x [PAUSE MODE] (DVD VIDEO/DVD-RW only) Selects the picture in pause mode. MULTI-DISC RESUME: CUSTOM SETUP AUTOPAUSE MODE: OFFTRACK SELECTION: ON AUDIO DRC: STANDARD DivX: Registration Code [AUTO] The picture, including subjects that move dynamically, is output with no jitter. Normally select this position. [FRAME] The picture, including subjects that do not move dynamically, is output in high resolution. x [TRACK SELECTION] (DVD VIDEO only) Gives the sound track which contains the highest number of channels priority when you play a DVD VIDEO on which multiple audio formats (PCM, DTS, MPEG audio, or Dolby Digital format) are recorded. [OFF] No priority given. [AUTO] Priority given. Note • When you set the item to [AUTO], the language may change. The [TRACK SELECTION] setting has higher priority than the [AUDIO] settings in [LANGUAGE SETUP] (page 75). (Depending on the disc, this function may not work.) • If PCM, DTS, Dolby Digital sound, and MPEG audio tracks have the same number of channels, the system continued 77GB selects PCM, DTS, Dolby Digital sound, and MPEG audio tracks in this order. x [MULTI-DISC RESUME] (DVD VIDEO/ VIDEO CD only) Switches the Multi-disc Resume setting on or off. Resume playback point can be stored in memory for up to 40 different DVD VIDEO/ VIDEO CD discs (page 32). [ON] Stores the resume settings in memory for up to 40 discs. [OFF] Does not store the resume settings in memory. Playback restarts at the resume point only for the current disc in the system. x [AUDIO DRC] (Dynamic Range Control) (DVD VIDEO/DVD-RW only) Narrows the dynamic range of the sound track. Useful for watching movies at low volume late at night. [OFF] No compression of dynamic range. [STANDARD] Reproduces the sound track with the kind of dynamic range that the recording engineer intended. [MAX] Compresses dynamic range at the maximum. Note • [AUDIO DRC] only applies to Dolby Digital sources. x [DivX] Displays the registration code for this system. For more information, go to on the Internet. Settings for the Speakers [SPEAKER SETUP] To obtain the best possible surround sound, set for the size of the speakers you have connected and their distance from your listening position. Then use the test tone to adjust the level and the balance of the speakers to the same level. Select [SPEAKER SETUP] in the Setup Display. For details, see “Using the Setup Display” (page 74). The default settings are underlined. Note • You cannot operate these setup items when you connect headphones to the system.
