5 Press SYSTEM MENU. The system menu turns off. 56GB Using the DIGITAL MEDIA PORT Adapter The DIGITAL MEDIA PORT (DMPORT) adapter is for enjoying sound from a portable audio source or computer. By connecting a DIGITAL MEDIA PORT adapter, you can enjoy sound from the connected component on the system. Available DIGITAL MEDIA PORT adapters vary in each area. For details on connecting the DIGITAL MEDIA PORT adapter, see “Connecting Other Components” (page 21). Note • Do not connect an adaptor other than the DIGITAL MEDIA PORT adapter. • Do not connect or disconnect the DIGITAL MEDIA PORT adapter to/from the unit while the system is turned on. • Depending on the type of DIGITAL MEDIA PORT adapter (not supplied), the images are also output. In this case, the system outputs the EURO AV OUTPUT signal only regardless of the type of video signal. Playing the connected component on the system 1 Press FUNCTION repeatedly until “DMPORT” appears in the front panel display. 2 Start playback of the connected component. The sound and images from the connected component are played on the system or connected TV. For operation details, see the operating instructions of the DIGITAL MEDIA PORT adapter (not supplied). Tip • When listening to MP3 or other compressed music using a portable audio source, you can enhance the sound. Press SOUND FIELD repeatedly until “A.F.D. STD” appears in the front panel display. To cancel, select other than “A.F.D. STD.” Note • Depending on the type of DIGITAL MEDIA PORT adapter (not supplied), you may be able to operate a connected component using either the buttons on the remote or the unit. The following illustration shows an example of buttons that can be used in this case. ./> H x X Other Operations 57GB Deactivating the Buttons on the Unit (Child Lock) You can deactivate the buttons on the unit (except for "/1) for preventing misoperation, such as child mischief (child lock function). When the child lock function is activated, the buttons on the unit are locked and “ ” lights up in the front panel display. (You can operate the system by using the remote.) Note • When you operate the buttons on the unit while the child lock function is on, “CHILD LOCK” appears in the front panel display. 1 Press SYSTEM MENU. 2 Press X/x repeatedly until “CHILD LOCK” appears in the front panel display, then press or c. 3 Press X/x to select a setting. The default setting is underlined. •“OFF”: Child lock function off. • “ON”: Child lock function on. 4 Press . The setting is made. 5 Press SYSTEM MENU. The system menu turns off. Tip • You can activate the child lock function by pressing x for more than 5 seconds (“ ” lights up in the front panel display). To cancel, press x for more than 5 seconds so that “ ” disappears from the front panel display. 58GB Advanced Settings and Adjustments Locking Discs (CUSTOM PARENTAL CONTROL, PARENTAL CONTROL) You can set two kinds of playback restrictions for the desired disc. • Custom Parental Control You can set playback restrictions so that the system will not play inappropriate discs. • Parental Control Playback of some DVD VIDEOs can be limited according to a predetermined level such as the age of the users. Scenes may be blocked or replaced with different scenes. The same password is used for both Custom Parental Control and Parental Control. Preventing playback of specific discs [CUSTOM PARENTAL CONTROL] You can set the same Custom Parental Control password for up to 40 discs. When you set the 41st-disc, the first disc is canceled. 1 Insert the disc you want to lock. If the disc is playing, press x to stop playback. 2 Press DISPLAY while the system is in stop mode. The Control Menu display appears. 3 Press X/x to select [PARENTAL CONTROL], then press . The options for [PARENTAL CONTROL] appear. OFF PASSWORD PLAYER ON DVD VIDEO T 1 : 3 2 : 5 5 1 8 ( 3 4 ) 1 2 ( 2 7 ) 4 Press X/x to select [ON t], then press . x If you have not entered a password The display for registering a new password appears. PARENTAL CONTROL Enter a new 4-digit password, then press .ENTER Enter a 4-digit password using the number buttons, then press . The display for confirming the password appears. x When you have already registered a password The display for entering the password appears. PARENTAL CONTROL Enter password, then press .ENTER 5 Enter or re-enter your 4-digit password using the number buttons, then press . [Custom parental control is set.] appears and the TV screen returns to the Control Menu display. To turn off the Custom Parental Control function 1 Follow steps 1 through 3 of “Preventing playback of specific discs [CUSTOM PARENTAL CONTROL].” 2 Press X/x to select [OFF t], then press . 3 Enter your 4-digit password using the number buttons, then press .
