Notes • 5.1 Channel sound may be displayed as “6ch”. • Before changing the setting, read through the explanation on “Digital Audio Out” on page 33 and carefully select the setting. • Depending on the disc, it may be necessary to select the audio sound track using the DVD menu. When this is the case, press MENU to open the DVD menu and select the appropriate sound track as indicated on the DVD menu screen. • When you turn on the DVD Player or replace a disc, the DVD Player returns to the automatic setting in the setting menu (see page 31). • Depending on the disc, pressing AUDIO may display a disc menu. For more details, refer to the instruction notes on the disc. 24 00_DV-SP301.book Page 25 Friday, April 18, 2003 4:18 PM DVD DVD Changing the Subtitle Language You can display subtitles on the TV screen and select a subtitle language from those included on the DVD-Video. 1 Press SUBTITLE on the remote controller during playback. 2 Press SUBTITLE repeatedly to select the subtitle language. 3 Press SUBTITLE ON/OFF to select subtitle on or off. Notes • When you turn on the DVD Player or replace a disc, the DVD Player returns to the automatic setting in the setting menu (see page 31). • When you select a subtitle language which is not included on the disc, the DVD Player plays the prior language programmed on the disc. • During some scenes, the subtitles may not appear immediately after you change the subtitle setting. • Some DVD-Video are set to display subtitles automatically, and you cannot turn them off even if you set the subtitle function to off. • Depending on the disc, pressing SUBTITLE may display a disc menu. For more details, refer to the instruction notes on the disc. Changing the Camera Angle Good evening! Bon soir! .Buenas tardes! Angle : 2Angle : 1 Angle : 3 If the scene was recorded from multiple angles, you can easily change the camera angle of the scene you are watching. 1 Press ANGLE on the remote controller during playback. 2 Press ANGLE to select camera angle. Notes • You can change the camera angle during still playback. The camera angle changes to the new setting when you resume normal playback. • If you pause a picture immediately after changing the camera angle, the resumed playback picture may not use the new camera angle. 25 06_DV-SP301E.ADV.fm Page 26 Friday, April 18, 2003 7:05 PM Using On-Screen Display The On-screen display contains many playback features. The On-screen display is available for DVD, video CD, CD and MP3. Using On-Screen Display 13 24 Press ON SCREEN. The contents of On-screen display depend on the type of disc being played. For example, when playing CDs, the On-screen display appears as above: 1 Playback Statement Displays the current playback information. 2 Disc Information Displays information on the currently playing Title, Chapter and Track, and the Time Information specified in the Main Menu. Displays the Bitrate* when playing MP3s. 3 TV Screen Displays a smaller version of the TV screen. Displays only the Track No. when playing CDs and MP3s. 4 Main Menu Displays the setting features. Press 5/a to select a desired menu, and press ENTER. When you select certain menu items and press ENTER, a submenu will appear. If you want to go back to main menu, press RETURN. * Bitrate means how many bits are transferred per second during playback of an MPEG file. So Bitrate can tell you how much an MPEG file is compressed. The more it is compressed, the lower the bitrate. ON SCREEN ENTER number buttons When the On-screen display appears, you can use only PLAY ., PAUSE 8, STOP 7 buttons for playback operations. ¦ To turn off the On-screen display Press ON SCREEN. Notes • You can only access the On-screen display when a disc is loaded in the disc tray. • The main menu features are only available if the disc was created with that particular feature (i.e., if you select the Subtitle icon, you won’t be able to change the subtitle language unless the author of the disc created the disc with subtitles). • The invalid symbol . or appears on the screen when you press a button that doesn’t have any function. 26 00_DV-SP301.book Page 27 Friday, April 18, 2003 4:18 PM VCD CD MP3 VCD CDDVD MP3 Selecting a Track To play from a specific Track. 1 Press ON SCREEN. 2 Press 5/a to select Track. 3 Press ENTER. “__/12” appears. The number after “/” means the number of Track in total. 4 Press the number buttons to enter the Track number. When you enter a one-digit track number, you may have to press ENTER on the remote controller after pressing the number (1~9) on the remote controller. Otherwise press 0 first and the other value. Then playback starts. Note When playing PBC-compatible Video CD with PBC on, you cannot select a Track. To do this operation, turn PBC off by pressing TOP MENU.
