If you mow in areas where fertilizers or chemicals have been used, the mower should be cleaned immediately afterward as follows: (1) Be sure the tool is unplugged. (2) Wipe all exposed parts with a damp cloth. CAUTION: DO NOT POUR OR SPRAY WATER ON THE MOWER IN AN ATTEMPT TO CLEAN IT, Do not store the tool on or adjacent to fertilizers or chemicals. LUBRICATION CONT'D DRIVE BELT ADJUSTMENT CONT’D (3) Position mower as in Figure 26 and put five (5) drops of motor oil in the reservoir. Do not overlubricate, (4) Replace the motor cover so the printing on the label faces the same way as the "Black & Decker1' cast into the-deck. Carefully slide it down over the motor without forcing it. The lower motor bearing has been lubricated at the factory for the life of the bearing. ?, * FIGURE 26 DRIVE BELT ADJUSTMENT The drive belts have been tensioned properly at the factory and should not require adjustment during the first several seasons the mower is used. Either or both of the following conditions indicate the belts should be re-tensioned. 1. The mower having sharp blades no longer produces a clean cut with either one or both blades. 2, The motor runs at higher than normal speeds in thick grass. Note: Before attempting adjustment, be sure the blades are sharp since dull blades are most often the cause of poor cutting. ADJUSTMENT: 1. DISCONNECT THE POWER CORD PLUG FROM THE EXTENSION CORD. 2. Remove the motor cover by loosening the cover mounting screws and sliding it up off the motor. Be careful not to ...
