A dedicated circuit will be required if, after installation, the circuit breaker trips or fuse blows on a regular basis when the heater is operating. Additional appliances on the same circuit may exceed the current rating of the circuit breaker. CLEARANCES AND PREPARATION This fireplace has the following dimensions: Maximum Width- 36” Maximum Depth -13 1/16” Height -26 7/8”. (See Figure 1) There are no combustion or heat restrictions on this fireplace. It can be installed in any space into which it will fit, provided the area meets the requirements listed under IMPORTANT INSTRUCTIONS above. This fireplace does NOT require venting. The fireplace should rest on a flat, solid surface. This fireplace comes completely wired. It requires only to be plugged into a 15 Amp, 120 Volt circuit. It is best if the outlet is located so it can be reached with the 8 ft. power cord. However, an extension cord may be used, provided it is rated at not less than 1875 watts. There are two options for installing the SEF: 1. Set the unit against the wall. Space requirements are simply the dimensions of the fireplace (36” x 13 1/16” x 36 7/8”). 2. Frame the unit in. Combustible materials can be brought right up to the fireplace. However, for ease of installation it might be best to leave 1/8” clearance around the fireplace (framing dimensions of 36 1/8”W x 27”H x 13 3/16"D). INSTALLATION 1. Remove the fireplace from its shipping carton. Remove the log package, light bulbs, flame strip package, and all packaging materials from the cabinet of the fireplace. 2. Uncoil the power cord, but do NOT plug in the cord at this time. Set the fireplace in its final position. Establish the path to the outlet for the power cord. The cord should run as close to the wall as possible and be out of the way of traffic. WARNING: To reduce the risk of fire, property damage, electric shock, and personal injury, the cord must not be pinched or pressed against a sharp edge. Do not rout the cord under carpeting or throw rugs. P/N 140599 2 ver. 11/2002 3. Install the light bulbs into the light sockets. Hold the sockets while installing the bulbs to prevent twisting.
