. Before using your tea and coffee maker for the first time, please read through the operating instructions and this safety advice carefully. . This tea and coffee maker is intended for domestic use only. . Do not use this tea and coffee maker outside. . WARNING: Never immerse the tea and coffee maker in water. Do not use your tea and coffee maker near running or standing water or in the bathroom. . Do not place the glass carafe in the microwave. . Do not allow your tea and coffee maker to remain near sources of heat (the cable and plastic components could be damaged). . Always take the carafe and brewing chamber out of the main unit before you fill with water. Use the device only with the supplied base unit. . Do not remove the lid whilst the tea and coffee maker is switched on. The hot steam could scold you. Switch off the device (press the switch "0”) before you open the lid. . The Bifinett tea and coffee maker has an integrated safety system. This automatically switches the device off again if the device has been switched on with no water in it. If this occurs, pull out the mains plug and let the heating element cool before you refill the device with water. To switch on the device again press the switch "1”. . Keep a check on the tea and coffee maker whilst it is operating and do not allow children to use it. . Never use the tea and coffee maker without its lid. . Do not touch the hot surfaces of the tea and coffee maker. Stay clear of the steam issuing from the spout. . Remember to disconnect the tea and coffee maker from the mains when you are: -not using it, -filling, -pouring, -cleaning, - or moving it. . Do not use the tea and coffee maker if the glass carafe, cable or plug is damaged. In this event you should have your tea and coffee maker checked at the designated service centre for your country (address list supplied). . Never attempt to open or repair the tea and coffee maker yourself. If you do this you will invalidate the guarantee. . Keep the tea and coffee maker out of reach of children. WARNING To switch off, press the switch "0”. Always pull the plug out of the socket when you are about to clean the device or not using it. Always let the device cool completely before you start to clean it. DESCRIPTION OF COMPONENTS Lid (lockable and removable) Spout Handle Glass carafe Brewing chamber On switch Manual Off switch Indicator light Enclosed heating tube Base with integrated mains cable 4 SPECIFICATION . The voltage and wattage are given on the rating plate found on the device. . Minimum filling capacity: 0.3 l . Maximum filling capacity: 1.0 l BEFORE USING FOR THE FIRST TIME . Read the operating instructions carefully and keep them handy. . Remove packaging and any stick-on labels on or inside the device. . Check that the voltage given on the base of the device agrees with that of the mains supply. . Thoroughly rinse all parts of the brewing system and the glass carafe. -Before using the tea and coffee maker for the first time please carry out the following: - Remove the brewing chamber. . Fill the glass carafe up to the maximum mark with water and add a teaspoonful of lemon juice (or lemon concentrate). If no lemon is available, place a teabag (or a teaspoonful of tea leaves directly into the water. . Put the lid in place. . Switch on and then wait for the automatic switch-off. . Rinse the device with water. Your tea and coffeemaker is now ready for use. Please read carefully through all advice and instructions. . Warning: Do not put any sugar in the tea and coffee maker. Do not heat milk in the tea and coffee maker. OPERATION 1 Take the carafe off the base. 2 Take the lid off the glass carafe and remove the brewing system. 3 The brewing system can be placed down on a level surface. 4 Fill the glass carafe with the required amount of water. This can be between a minimum of 0.3 l and a maximum of 1.0 l of water. The respective filling marks can be found on the outside of the carafe. Warning: So as to avoid the risk of burns and electric shock, please ensure that no water overflows from the carafe. 5 To open, turn the lid anti-clockwise whilst holding the brewing chamber (see Fig. aaa). 6 Place the required amount of coffee, tea or teabags into the brewing chamber. Do not fill the coffee or tea above the marks inside the brewing chamber. Refer to the instructions in the section ‘Making tea and coffee’. 7 Put the lid back on and lock it in place by turning it to the right whilst holding the brewing chamber. 8 Place the brewing chamber back in the carafe. Make sure that the water outlet pipe is securely seated in the heating element opening. Switching on the device WARNING: Do not place the device on the main unit until you have filled it with water. a. Place the carafe on the base and push the plug into the mains socket. b.
