Caution Take the following precautions to keep the unit in proper working order: • Be sure the unit is connected to a 12V DC power supply with a negative ground connection. • Do not install the unit where it will be exposed to high levels of humidity, moisture, or dust. • When replacing a fuse, use only a new one with the proper rating. Using a fuse with the wrong rating may cause the unit to malfunction. • To prevent a short circuit when replacing a fuse, first unplug the car power adapter from the cigarette lighter. Orbiter SM4000 Mobile Docking Station Installation Guide 5 • Find a location that provides good visibility of and access to the SR4000 Receiver’s front panel. • It is strongly recommended that you mount the SR4000 Receiver using the provided Suction Cup mount, adhered to the windshield. Use the 4 provided screws to attach the Suction Cup to the back plate of the cradle. 2. Plug the car power adapter into the back of the Docking Station. Don’t plug the adapter into the cigarette lighter until the installation is completed. 3. If your car stereo has an AUX input, plug the supplied audio cable into the back of the cradle. Plug the audio cable’s white (L ch) and red (R ch) connectors into your car stereo. Utilizing the FM Transmitter The SM4000 Docking Cradle includes a Built-in Wireless FM Transmitter which can broadcast the audio signal to the car radio on one of four selectable FM frequencies. The audio signal can then be played through your car radio when the car radio is tuned to one of these frequencies. 1. Move the frequency selection switch to the desired frequency. 2. Tune the car radio to the same frequency as the switch. Note: Choose a frequency that does not have any FM audio already. Temporarily plug the antenna into the “ANT” connector on the back of the cradle until it is firmly seated. 2. Find an antenna location on a metal surface of your vehicle at least 12" x 12", and at least 6" from a window. 3. The antenna’s powerful magnet will secure it to the metal surface. Before routing the antenna cable, confirm that the antenna is mounted in a good location. 4. Temporarily plug the Car Power Adapter into the cigarette lighter. 5. Slide the SR4000 Receiver all the way into the cradle so that the connector at the bottom of the unit makes proper contact in the cradle. Press and hold the POWER button to turn the SR4000 Receiver on. 6. If your SR4000 Receiver has been properly connected and the antenna is receiving the SIRIUS signal you will hear audio. If you do not hear audio and the display shows “Acquiring Signal”, reposition the antenna until the message goes away and you hear audio.
