SERVICE n Before cleaning, repairing, or inspecting, shut off the engine and make certain all moving parts have stopped. Disconnect the spark plug wire, and keep the wire away from the plug to prevent starting. n Service on the cultivator must be performed by qualified repair personnel only. Service or maintenance performed by unqualified personnel could result in injury to the user or damage to the product. n Use only identical replacement parts when servicing the cultivator. Use of unauthorized parts may create a risk of serious injury to the user, or damage to the product. SPECIFIC SAFETY RULES n Do not use near underground electric cables, telephone lines, pipes, or hoses. If in doubt, contact your utility or telephone company to locate underground services. n If the unit strikes a foreign object, stop the engine, disconnect the spark plug, thoroughly inspect the machine for any damage, and repair the damage before restarting and operating the machine. n Never leave the operating position when the engine is running. n Stop the engine and disconnect the spark plug before unclogging the tines and when making any repairs, adjustments, or inspections. n Do not overload the machine capacity by cultivating too deep in a single pass or at too fast a rate. n Be aware that the equipment may unexpectedly bounce upward or jump forward if the tines should strike buried obstacles such as large stones, roots, or stumps. n Never operate the equipment on a slope. n Use extreme caution when pulling the machine towards you. n Start the engine carefully according to instructions from a normal operating position and with feet well away from the tines. REFUELING n Fuel is highly flammable. Take precautions when using to reduce the chance of serious personal injury. n Store fuel in a cool, well-ventilated area, safely away from spark and/or flame-producing equipment. n Store fuel in containers specifically designed for this purpose. n Only refuel outdoors and do not smoke while refueling. n Add fuel before starting the engine. Never remove the cap of the fuel tank or add fuel while the engine is running or when the engine is hot. n If fuel is spilled, do not attempt to start the engine but move the machine away from the area of spillage and avoid creating any source of ignition until fuel vapors have dissipated. n Replace all fuel tank and container caps securely. n When draining the fuel tank, use an approved fuel storage container while in a well-ventilated area.
