(1O) Rewind Switch For rapid tape winding in the reverse direction,pressthe << sectionof the switch. (11) Fast-Forward Switch For rapid tape windingin the forward direction,pressthe >> section of the switch. (12) Stop Switch Whenthe D section is pressed,the tape motion comes to a full stop and the indicator lights up. (13) Play Switch Press the > sectionof the switchto start playback.When the switch is pressedin the recording-standbymode, recording starts. During operation, the indicator lights up. (14) Pause Switch Press the EE sectionof the switchfor short-terminterruptionof recordingor playback.The indicator lights up. To resume recordingor playback, press the playswitch. (15) Record Switch Press the O section of the switch for recording. This deck possessesa one-touch recording-standbyfeature.By simply pressingthe record switch from the stop mode, the recording-standby mode is entered. During operation, the indicator lights & uo. (16) Output Level Control Adjuststhe line outputleveland the headphones listening level. (17) Master lnput Level Control Usedto adjust the input (record)level for the leftand rightchannel simultaneously. The levelbalance between bothchannels in recordingis adjusted with the balance control. The masterinout level control can also be used to fade in or fadeout a recording. (18) MPX Filter Switch Usedto cut the 19-kHz multiplex carrier signal,whichcould cause misoperationof the Dolby NR system when recording from FM stereo broadcasts. When recording from other sources, this switch shouldbe set to J off. (19) Tape Selector Switches Dependingon the tape used for recording, the appropriate positionmustbe selected. Refer to "Matchingthe Deck to Various CassetteTapes" on page 5. (2O) Equalizer Switch Dependingon the tape used for recording or playback,the appropriate positionmust be selected.Reler to "Matchingthe Deck to Various Cassette Tapes" on page 5. (21) Dolby NR Switches Usedto select the noisereduction system, if desired: either the Dolby B-Type NR for a 1o-dB improvement in mid- andhigh- frequencyS/N ratioor the Dolby G-Type NR for a 20-dB improvement.lf a Dolby NR systemis used,the respective DolbyNR il indicator lights up. V (22) Balance Control Servesto adjustthe level balancebetween left and right channelin recording. (23) Gounter Reset Switch By pressingthis switch, the tape counter "0000". indication is reset to (24) Tape Counter Canbe used to indexsections on the tape and to check the tape's positionat a given moment. (2)After timer recording or timer playbackis completed,the eject button may not be operative. To eject the tape in such a case,do not pressthe button forcibly. (3) Voltage Selector AC voltage is factory-set for the country in whichyou purchased your BX-2. The voltage selectorpermitsre-settingof mains voltage in case the deck is to be used in a different counlry. (4)Pressthe > sectionof the playswitch. lMatchingthe Deck to Various Gassette Tapesl Tape Selector Switch and Eq Switch Settings (Recommended Tapes) I Memory Switch "Memory By setting the memory switchto Play",playbackautomaticallystarts from the "00O0" tape counter pointwhenthe tape is rewoundor fast-torwarded.By setting the switch to "MemoryStop", tape motion during rewind or fast-forward automaticallystops when the "0000" pointis reached. I Dolby NR System Thisdeck incorporates both the Dolby B-Typeand the Dolby C-Type noise reductionsystems, which can be freely selected. The Dolby B-Type NRprovides approximately1O dB of noise reduction in the high frequencies.
