Orange On The reader is connected to the host computer and the power is on. Green On Memory card is inserted to the device's media slot. Green Flashing Data is being read from or written to the device. The LED light turns steady on when data transfer is completed. System Requirements l IBM PCs and Macs with USB capabilities l Windows 98SE/Me/2000/XP & Mac OS X 10.2.3 RETURN TO TOP OF THE PAGE Installing the Reader For Windows 98SE / Me CAUTION: Make sure you have installed the USB drivers before connecting the reader to the host computer. 1. Insert the Electronic User's Manual CD-ROM into the CD-ROM drive. 2. Double-click the CD-ROM icon in My Computer. Locate and double-click the CD-ROM drive:\lcd\pc\ucr_driver\setup.exe file. 3. Follow the on-screen instructions to complete the software installation. Reboot the computer. 4. After reboot, simply connect the reader to the computer's USB port. The system will automatically complete the installation. For Windows XP/ 2000 Windows XP requires no software installation. The drivers used are Windows' native drivers. Simply connect the reader to the computer's USB port. The system will automatically complete the installation. For Mac OS CAUTION: Make sure you have installed the USB drivers before connecting the reader to the host computer. 1. Insert the Electronic User's Manual CD-ROM into the CD-ROM drive. 2. Double-click the CD-ROM icon on the desktop and then run the CD-ROM drive:\lcd\mac\ucr file. 3. When the contents of Read me appear, click Continue to proceed. 4. When Installer Dialog appears: Select USB Reader Installer from the pop-up menu. Then click on the Install button to install the device driver. 5. A warning dialog will appear on the screen telling you that you should quit all running applications before installation. 6. Click Continue to start copying files. Click on Cancel if you want to quit other running application before proceeding. 7. After copying files is completed, the Restart dialog appears. Click on Restart button to restart the system. 8. After rebooting the computer, simply plug your reader to your Mac computer's USB port. The system will complete the installation. RETURN TO TOP OF THE PAGE Using the Reader Identify the Storage Media In Windows, each inserted flash card or USB-connected storage device will be identified as a Removable Drive and assigned with a drive letter in My Computer. You can click on icon representing the drive to gain access to the files contained on your flash cards or USB-connected storage devices. In the Mac OS, each inserted flash card or USB-connected storage device will be represented as a disk icon on the desktop. Reading/Writing Storage Media You may write to and copy files to, from and among flash cards, USB-attached storage devices and your host computer as you would with an ordinary disk drive. You can also copy files between cards in different slots. To use the reader: 1. Insert your storage card or USB storage device. 2. Open My Computer or your File Explorer. 3. Double-click on the proper Removable Disk icon. 4. Access images and files on your storage cards just as you open, copy, move, or delete images and files on your hard disk drive. WARNING: Do not insert or extract storage cards while the green LED is flashing. RETURN TO TOP OF THE PAGE Disconnecting the Reader For Windows Use the Safely Remove Hardware icon in the notification area of the taskbar to safely remove the device before unplugging. The notification area is to the right of the taskbar where you usually see the current time displayed. These steps are not required for Windows 98SE. 1. In the notification area, right-click on the Safely Remove Hardware hot-plug icon. 2. Select the device you want to unplug and click Stop. 3. When Windows notifies you that it is safe to do so, unplug the reader from your computer. For Mac OS Remember to drag the disk icon representing the storage card to the trash box before extracting the card from the reader or unplugging the reader unit from the USB port.
