Power Supply • The appropriate power supply for this instrument is shown on its name plate. Please be sure that the voltage system in your country meets this. • This instrument might generate heat while operating, but there is no need to worry about it. Roland Corporation Osaka/Japan (CM) ■ Panel Descriptions Front Panel T Power Switch Volume Knob 3 Brillance Knob As you rotate this knob clockwise the tone color will be brighter, and counter-clockwise (o) mellower. Normally this is set to the center. ; Headphones Jack Standard stereo headphones can be connected. The sound from the built-in speaker stops automatically on connecting the headphones. Please adjust the volume with the Volume Knob. ' Tone Selectors By pressing one of these buttons, you can select a tone color you like. Just select one tone color at a time. Mixer L/M/H Guitar Amp. L/M etc. (9) MIDI (Musical Instrument Digital Interface) MIDI is an international standard of the electronic musical instruments. By connecting the devices featuring MIDI Buses, their musical messages can be communicated by means of digital signal. (Refer to the separate volume "MIDI") }0) Pedal Jacks (Damper, Soft) This jack is used to connect the optional Pedal Switch DP-6, DP-2 or the one that belongs to the KS-350 /450. These will function just like a damper pedal or a soft pedal of a usual piano. (Q) Tune Knob This is used to tune the HP-350/450 to other musical instrument. At its center position, A = 442Hz. »The HP-350/450 itself never gets out of tune, therefore tuning is not necessary. (j|i External Input Jacks To this jack, you can connect a Rhythm Machine such as the CR-8000, TR-909 or Bass Line TB-303, etc. »Select H, M or L position depending on the input level. (Set this switch to L if the input level is low, and H if high.) @ Output Jacks (0) AC Socket »Make sure that the HP-350/450 is turned off, then connect the power cable to this AC socket. @ External Program Change Button @ MIDI Channel Number Buttons ♦The buttons © and © are exclusively used to control external MIDI instruments. I External Connections using MIDI The HP-350/450 are the finest electronic piano on their own, but MIDI allows even more possibilities in performance by interfacing other MIDI devices. Setting MIDI Channel At power up, the HP-350(450) defaults to Channel 1 and OMNI ON. -»Refer to page 8—6. Modes in the separate book "MIDI". To change MIDI Channels, while holding down a relevant MIDI Channel Buttons @(1 to 8), turn the piano on. e.g. to change to MIDI channel 4, while holding the button 4 down, switch the piano on. When the button being held down lights up, release the button. In the same way, you can set any MIDI channel 1 to 8. To set the channel number of 8 to 16, hold down the External Program Change Button (¡J> as well. To select channel number 14, hold down a relevant MIDI Channel Button 6 and the External Program Change Button @ then without releasing them, switch the piano on. MIDI does not allow setting different channel numbers for receive and transmit. That is, the MIDI channel you have set is both for receiving and sending messages....
