Throughout theCoach modes,you will discover that some of them haveprogrammable parameters, allowing youtoadapt the functionstoyour specific needs. Selecting a Practice Menu 1. Press the [COACH] button so it’s lit TheCOACH MENU screen will appear. Correctly Playing in Time with the Beat (TIME CHECK) This mode letsyoupracticeplayingaccurately along with the metronome. Start practicing IntheCOACHMENU screen,pressthe[F1](TIME CHECK) button; practicewill startimmediately. 1. Strike the pad in time with the metronome 2. Select a menu item, and start practicing Whenyoupressabutton,thecorrespondingpractice menu item will startimmediately. Button Menu item Description [F1] TIME CHECK (p. 31) Strengthens your abilityto playaccuraterhythms. [F2] QUIETCOUNT (p. 32) Strengthens your abilityto maintain the tempo internally. [F3] WARM UPS (p. 32) When you wanttoget warmed up beforeyou begin practicing. Operations common to Coach mode Basic operations(e.g., changing thetempo, and starting/ stopping)arethe sameineachofthethreeCoachmode items. Operation Button/Dial Change the tempo Value dial Start [F3] (START)/[ ] Stop [F1] (STOP)/[ ] Make settings [F2] (SETUP) Exit Coach mode [COACH] WhenusingWarmUps,you can pausebypressingthe[F3] (PAUSE) button. The percentage of your strikes thatwereplayed with accuratetiming is displayed as a“%” value. The screen will indicatewhether your pad strikes match the beatsounded bythe metronome. Scoring IfScore(p.31)is“ON,”theTime Check will automatically endwhenyou’vefinishedpracticingthe specified numberof measures.Thenyourperformancewillbe scored,andtheresultswill appearinthescreen. Settings Inthe TIME CHECK screen, press the [F2] (SETUP) button toaccess the settings screen. Parameter Value Description Specifies whether the scorewill be shown in the screen. Score OFF Your performancewill not be scored. Only the timing will be checked. ON (4, 8, 16, 32 meas) The scorewill be shown in the screen. You can also specify the number of measures you’ll practicebeforebeing scored. Specifies the strictness of scoring. Grade EASY Normal HARD Timing will be checked morestrictly. Practicing in Coach Mode Parameter Value Description Display 1 Display 2 In the screen, selectthe pad for which atiming graph will be shown. Gauge LEFT BEHIND The leftside of the timing graph is shown as BEHIND (late). LEFT AHEAD The leftside of the timing graph is shown as AHEAD (early). * You canpressthe[F2](METRO)buttontomake metronome settings(p. 13). Developing Internal Timing Sense (QUIET COUNT) Thismodewillhelpyoudevelopagood senseoftime/ tempo. For the firstfew measures,the metronome will soundat the specifiedvolume;over the nextfew measures,the volumewill diminishuntilitis nearlyinaudible.Thiscycle ofseveral measureswillcontinueuntilyoustopit. Start practicing IntheCOACHMENU screen,pressthe[F2](QUIET COUNT)button; practicewill startimmediately. 1. Strike the pads in time with the metronome • The metronome will sound during the firstfew measures.Whenyoureach the last measureduring which the metronome will sound,the screen will indicate“Ready.” • When the metronome stops sounding,the screen indication will changeto“Quiet.”Continue striking the pads during this time. • AftertheQuietregion,theproportionofyour strikes thatwereplayedatan accuratetempo areshown as a“%”value. Settings IntheQUIETCOUNT screen,pressthe[F2](SETUP) buttontoaccess the settings screen.
