Follow these steps to access it: 1 Click on Start, All Programs, AcerSystem. 2 Click on AcerSystem User Guide. Note: Viewing the file requires Adobe Reader. If Adobe Reader is not installed on your computer, clicking on AcerSystem User Guide will run the Adobe Reader setup program first. Follow the instructions on the screen to complete the installation. For instructions on how to use Adobe Reader, access the Help and Support menu. English 4 Your Acer notebook tour After setting up your computer as illustrated in the Just for Starters... poster, let us show you around your new Acer notebook. Top view # Icon Item Description 1 Acer Crystal Eye Web camera for video communication. (only webcam for certain models) 2 Microphone Internal microphone for sound recording. 3 Display screen Also called Liquid-Crystal Display (LCD), displays computer output (Configuration may vary by models). 5 # Icon Item Description Power button Turns the computer on and off. VOL+ Volume up/ Increases the sound volume/Decreases the /VOL-Volume down sound volume. English Keyboard For entering data into your computer. Palmrest Comfortable support area for your hands when you use the computer. Touchpad Touch-sensitive pointing device which functions like a computer mouse. Click buttons (left, center* and right) The left and right buttons function like the left and right mouse buttons. *The center button serves as Acer Bio-Protection fingerprint reader supporting Acer FingerNav 4-way control function (only for certain models). Indicates the computer's power status. Power1 Indicates the computer's batttery status. Battery1 1. Charging: The light shows amber when the battery is charging. 2. Fully charged: The light shows green when in AC mode. 11 P Programmable User-programmable key Mail Email application (user-programmable) Bluetooth Enables/disables the Bluetooth function. communication Indicates the status of Bluetooth button/indicator communication. Wireless Enables/disables the wireless function. communication Indicates the status of wireless LAN button/indicator communication. HDD Indicates when the hard disk drive is active. Num Lock Lights up when Num Lock is activated. Caps Lock Lights up when Caps Lock is activated. 13 Speakers Left and right speakers deliver stereo audio output. 1. The front panel indicators are visible even when the computer cover is closed up. English 6 Closed front view # Icon Item Description 1 5-in-1 card reader Accepts Secure Digital (SD), MultiMediaCard (MMC), Memory Stick (MS), Memory Stick Pro (MS PRO), and xD-Picture Card. Note: Push to remove/install the card. Only one card can operate at any given time. Line-in jack Accepts audio line-in devices (e.g., audio CD player, stereo walkman, mp3 player) English English 8 Right view # Icon Item Description 1 USB 2.0 port Connects to USB 2.0 devices (e.g., USB mouse, USB camera). 2 Optical drive Internal optical drive; accepts CDs or DVDs. 3 Optical disk access indicator Lights up when the optical drive is active. 4 Optical drive eject button Ejects the optical disk from the drive. 5 Emergency eject hole Ejects the optical drive tray when the computer is turned off. Note: Insert a paper clip to the emergency eject hole to eject the optical drive tray when the computer is off. 6 Kensington lock slot Connects to a Kensington-compatible computer security lock. Note: Wrap the computer security lock cable around an immovable object such as a table or handle of a locked drawer. Insert the lock into the notch and turn the key to secure the lock. Some keyless models are also available. 9 Base view # Icon Item Description 1 Battery bay Houses the computer's battery pack. Battery release latch Releases the battery for removal. Hard disk bay Houses the computer's hard disk (secured with screws). Memory compartment Houses the computer's main memory. Battery lock Locks the battery in position. 6 Ventilation slots and Enable the computer to stay cool, even cooling fan after prolonged use. Note: Do not cover or obstruct the opening of the fan.
