Utilities Utilities TOSHIBA Hardware Setup TOSHIBA Hardware Setup TOSHIBA Hardware Setup is the TOSHIBA configuration management tool available through the Windows® operating system. To access it: . Click Start, All Programs, TOSHIBA, Utilities, and then HWSetup, or click the TOSHIBA Hardware Settings icon in the Optimize tab of TOSHIBA Assist. The TOSHIBA HWSetup screen appears. (Sample Image) TOSHIBA HWSetup screen – General tab options The TOSHIBA HWSetup screen may have the following tabs: . Boot Setting—Allows you to change the sequence in which your computer searches the drives for the operating system You can also manually choose the Boot Setting by pressing the power button to power on the computer, then quickly pressing the F12 key. Select the boot device by pressing the arrow keys, then pressing the Enter key. . Boot Speed—Reduces the time needed for the BIOS to initialize, using either the Fast or Normal settings. NOTE Since the system is a quick-booting system, you must press the keys immediately after pressing the power button. Utilities Utilities TOSHIBA Hardware Setup . Display—Allows you to change various default settings for the built-in display NOTE When the computer restarts, it remembers the last configuration. If data does not appear on the display you are using after starting in Sleep mode, press Fn + F5. For more information, see “Directing the display output when you turn on the computer” on page 86. . General—Allows you to view the current BIOS version or change certain settings back to their default values . Keyboard—Allows you to access the wake-on keyboard function . LAN—Allows you to set networking functions . Panel open/Power on—Allows you to turn on the computer when opening the display panel while the computer is turned off. . Password—Allows you to set a user password . SATA—Allows you to adjust settings for the internal storage drive interface . USB—Allows you to enable or disable USB Legacy Emulation Utilities Utilities TOSHIBA Sleep Utility TOSHIBA Sleep Utility This utility displays whether the “USB Sleep and Charge function” is enabled or disabled and shows the position of the USB port that supports the “USB Sleep and Charge function.” It also displays the remaining battery capacity. Starting the TOSHIBA Sleep Utility To start this utility, click Start, All Programs, TOSHIBA, Utilities, and then USB Sleep and Charge. USB Sleep and Charge Your computer can supply USB bus power (DC 5V) to the USB port even when the computer is in Sleep mode, Hibernation mode or shutdown state (powered off). This function can only be used for the port that supports the USB Sleep and Charge function (hereinafter called “compatible port”). Compatible ports are USB ports that have the ( ) symbol icon. You can use the "USB Sleep and Charge function" to charge certain USB compatible external devices such as mobile phones or portable digital music players.
