Intended use This appliance is intended for the sharpening of coloured and lead pencils in domestic households. It is not intended for use in areas that allow access for the general public or for commercial or industrial purposes. Do not bridge or block any safety switches. • Do not insert fingers into the sharpening holes or any other objects, other than the intended coloured or lead pencils. • This appliance is not intended for use by individuals (including children) with restricted physical, physiological or intellectual abilities or deficiencies in experience and/or knowledge unless they are supervised by a person responsible for their safety or receive from this person instruction in how the appliance is to be used. Children should be supervised to ensure that they do not play with the appliance. • If you do not intend to use the appliance for an extended period, remove the batteries. Always replace all batteries at the same time and with the same type. Batteries may not be thrown into fires, taken apart or shortcircuited. Never attempt to recharge batteries, they could explode. Utilisation • Insert the batteries as marked in the battery compartment, or connect a 6V DC/1A mains adaptor to the socket at the rear (these items are not supplied). • To sharpen a pencil, insert the pencil into the sharpening hole appropriate for its size. In the sharpening hole 6-8 mm the motor starts immediately on insertion, in the sharpening hole 9-12 mm it starts with the concurrent activation of the safety switch at the top. Cleaning • To empty it, pull the shavings container out. Clean the appliance only with a lightly moistened cloth. • Should the batteries leak, wear protective gloves and clean the battery compartment with a dry cloth. Disposal Disposal of the appliance Do not, under any circumstances, dispose of the appliance in household refuse. Dispose of the ap pliance through an approved disposal centre or at your community waste facility. This appliance is subject to the European Guidelines 2002/96/EG. Observe the currently applicable regulations. In case of doubt, please contact your waste disposal centre. Disposing of the batteries Do not dispose of the batteries with household waste. Every consumer is statutorily obliged to dispose of batteries at a collection site of his community / city district or at a retail store. The purpose of this obligation is to ensure that batteries are disposed of in a non-polluting manner. Only dispose of batteries when they are fully discharged. Disposal of packaging Dispose of all packaging materials in an environ mentally friendly manner. Warranty and Service This product comes with a 3-year warranty as of the date of purchase. This appliance has been manufactured with care and meticulously examined before delivery. Please retain your receipt as proof of purchase. In the case of a warranty claim, please make contact by telephone with our service department. Only in this way can a post-free despatch for your goods be assured. The warranty covers only claims for material and manufacturing defects, not for wearing parts or for damage to fragile components, e.g. buttons or batteries. This product is for private use only and is not intended for commercial use. The warranty is void in the case of abusive and improper handling, use of force and internal modifications not carried out by our authorized Service Centre. Your statutory rights are not restricted in any way by this warranty.
