Recovery Manager and Remote Copy
To synchronize Recovery Manager snapshot data from the production site to secondary site, Recovery
Manager makes directly programmatic calls to the 3PAR Remote Copy product to perform the background
synchronization. If, while Recovery Manager is doing remote syncs via Remote Copy, a user also makes
direct use of Remote Copy to do remote synchronization of remote copy groups, both Remote Copy
requests may corrupt into each other that leads to unexpected failure. This may disrupt Recovery Manager’s
normal Remote copy procedures.
Remote Copy can support the mixture of Recovery Manager snapshots and Remote Copy snapshots (outside
of Recovery Manager) if the following procedure is followed:
Inside the Recovery Manager Windows scheduler script:
1. Set the Remote Copy period to 0.
2. Verify Remote Copy SyncStatus as "Synced".
3. Execute Recovery Manager snapshot creation for Remote Copy.
4. Wait for SyncStatus to be completed and Recovery Manager to take snapshot of secondary volumes.
5. Recovery Manger will monitor the SyncStatus to be "Synced" every 120 seconds as default then issue
snapshot creation of secondary volumes.
