It is not a substitute for responsible and proper adult supervision and should not be used as such. • Make sure the baby unit and adapter cable are always out of reach of the baby (at least 1 meter / 3 feet away). • Never place the baby unit inside the baby’s bed or playpen. • Never use the baby monitor in moist places or close to water. • Except for the battery compartments, do not open the inside of the baby unit and parent unit in order to prevent electric shock. Getting your baby monitor ready for use Your baby monitor can be mains or battery operated. For getting the monitor ready for mains operated use, see the Quick Start Guide supplied. For getting the monitor ready for battery operated use, see below.When batteries are inserted, you’ll have an automatic back-up in case of mains failure. Parent unit 1 Remove the battery compartment cover. Press down the battery door clip (B-8) and and pull the cover (B-7) outward (fig. 1). 2 Insert four 1.5V AA batteries, noting the + and – configuration inside the battery compartment (fig. 2). Batteries are not included; we recommend Philips Alkaline batteries. 3 Put the battery compartment cover (B-7) back in place (fig. 3). Baby unit 1 Remove the battery compartment cover (A-6) using a small, flat screwdriver (fig. 4). 2 Insert four 1.5V AA batteries, noting the + and – configuration inside the battery compartment (fig. 5). Batteries are not included; we recommend Philips Alkaline batteries. 3 Put the battery compartment cover (A-6) back in place and tighten the screw (fig. 5). .Your baby monitor is now ready for battery operated use! Extra feature For basic monitoring, see the Quick Start Guide supplied. Talk function If your child gets older and doesn’t want to be heard continuously it can use the talk function. 1 Set the On / Off switch (A-8) on the baby unit to OFF (fig. 6). 2 Switch on the parent unit using the ON/OFF switch (B-3). Set volume level to 4-5 (fig. 7). 3 On the baby unit press and hold the TALK button (A-1) and talk clearly into the microphone (A-5) (fig. 8).
