See page 28. What the line indicator means Off The line is free. On You are using the line on the handset or the base unit. Flashing twice every 2 seconds Someone else is using the line on the handset, base unit or parallel connected telephone. Flashing A call is on hold. Flashing quickly A call is being received. Lighted handset keypad The handset dialing buttons will light while dialing and flash when a call is received. The lights will go out about 10 seconds after dialing or answering a call. 18 C=> With the Base Unit The unit will automatically select an idle line when you press ISP-PHONE to make a call. (To change the line selection, see page 36.) Press ISP-PHONE I. © The SP-PHONE indicator and the selected line indicator light. Dial a telephone number. o If you misdial, press I FLASH) firmly then dial again. When the other party answers, talk into the MIC (microphone). To hang up, press ISP-PHONEJ. » The indicator lights go out. © In step 1, you may select a line manually by pressing the line button instead of ISP-PHONE I. To adjust the speaker volume (12 levels) while talking To increase, press VOLUME [a). To decrease, press VOLUME Pvl. During the speakerphone operation: © For best performance, talk alternately with the caller in a quiet room. If the caller complains that your voice is hard to hear, press VOLUME [v) to decrease the speaker volume. © If the handset is on the base unit, you may switch to the handset by lifting it up. o The line indicator shows the line condition (p. 18). 19 c=> Making Calls To redial the last number dialed on the base unit Press ISP-PHONEI {or a line button) c> IREDlALl. To put a call on hold Press IHOLD). ® The SP-PHONE indicator light goes out and the line indicator flashes, o After 6 minutes, warning tones will sound every 10-15 seconds. After a total of 10 minutes, the call will be disconnected. To release the hold Press the line button. 0 If another phone is connected on the same line (p. 38), you can also release the hold by lifting its handset. 1 You may make or answer a second call on the other line while keeping , the present call on hold. See page 29. 20 Answering Calls When a call is being received, the called line indicator flashes quickly. The line is automatically selected when you answer the call. {To change the line selection, see page 36.) With the Handset If the handset is off the base unit, press I TALK I. ® The called line indicator lights. © You can also answer a call by pressing any dialing button O to (9), ©, or (g (— Any Key Talk). OR If on the base unit, just lift up. o The called line indicator lights. Line Indicators ! I SP-PHONE 1 Mic an£^ lnc*'ca*or 21 Speed] Dialler (Handset) Storing Phone Numbers in Memory You can store up to 10 phone numbers in the handset. The dialing buttons (® to O) function as memory stations. The TALK indicator light must be off before programming. Press IprogramI. o The TALK indicator flashes. Enter a phone number up to 16 digits. o If you misdial, press IPROGRAMI to end storing, then start from step 1. 3 4 Press I auto I. Press a memory station number ((o) to (9]). o A confirmation tone sounds.* © To store other numbers, repeat steps 1 through 4. 0 If a pause is required for dialing, [REPlAUPAUSEl can be stored in a phone number counting as one digit (p. 34). *What the confirmation tone means 1 beep: The new number is stored. 2 beeps: The number is the same as the previously stored one. 22 To erase a stored number Press IPROGRAMI c> | AUTO] c> the memory station number ((o] to [£]) for the phone number to be erased. Dialing a Stored Number 1 Press I TALK I. 2 3 Press I AUTOl. Press the memory station number (® to ID). * The stored number is dialed. o Numbers stored in the handset can only be dialed by the handset. Speed Dialer (Bas© Unit) Storing Phone Numbers in Memory You can store up to 10 numbers in the base unit. The dialing buttons ((o] to (9)) function as memory stations. The SP-PHONE indicator light must be off. Press [PROGRAM!- oThe IN USE/CHARGE indicator flashes.
