It helps to keep theshredder blades operating well over many years of use. Shredder BagsShredder bags make emptying basket faster and easier while reducing shred dust and spillage. CLEANING: • ALWAYS UNPLUG THE SHREDDER BEFORE CLEANING! • Only clean the shredder by carefully wiping the unit with a dry soft cloth or towel. • Do not clean or immerse shredder in water. Having the unit wet may result in damage or malfunction to the electrical components. If the shredder happens to get wet, be sure to completely dry the unit immediately with a cloth or towel. • Never use anything flammable to clean the shredder. This may result in serious injury or damage to the product. Oil the shredder blades every month with recommended lubricant sheets (Office Depot item number 340-960) or oil (Office Depot item number 285-661). Do not spray or keep any aerosol products in or around shredder. DO NOT USE CANNED AIR ON SHREDDER. 4 Avoid touching the document feed opening with hands. Do not spray or keep any aerosolproducts in or around shredder. Do not insert foreign objects into the document feed opening. Product is not intended for use bychildren (product is not a toy). Avoid getting hair near the document feed opening. Avoid loose clothing or jewelry touching the document feed opening. :MAINTENANCEWARNING:! -DO NOT USE CANNED AIR ON SHREDDER. -RISK OF FIRE. Never use any petroleum based or flammable oils or lubricants in or around the machine as some oils can combust causing serious injury. - NEVER dispose of flammable chemicals or materials that have come into contactwith flammable chemicals (for example, nail polish, acetone, gasoline) in the shredder basket. -Never shred plastic (except credit cards), any hard materials, continuous forms, newsprint, or anything with adhesives including labels and envelopes. - A socket-outlet should be near the equipment and be easily accessible. - Always turn the shredder off and unplug the power cord from the AC outlet before cleaning it, moving it, or emptying the waste basket. - Never let the wastebasket become full. This will lead to shredded material being pulled back up intothe shredder and cause jams. - Never place the shredder near water or any heat source. - Keep wastebasket emptied so that the shredder output is not impeded. - Do not use the shredder if the power cord is damaged in any way. - Do not attempt to service this product yourself as doing so may expose you to sharp cutting blades and/or electricity and will void the manufacturers warranty. - Never try to clean or clear the shredder blade. 7 8 La tecnologia ShredSafe™ es una caracteristica de seguridad adicional, incorporada a este modelo enparticular. Es una tecnologia nueva que permite que la maquina detecte las entradas forzadas del papel, y se apague automaticamente evitando que prosiga la destruccion de documentos. Para comenzar a destruir documentos, ubique el interruptor en la unidad y seleccione el modo “Auto” (FIGURA 2). La luz verde LED indica que la maquina destructora de documentos esta encendida y listapara ser usada. Apriete la seccion designada “apriete para abrir” en la asa de la tapa, para abrir esta inclinandola hacia atras y dejando a la vista la ranura de alimentacion del papel (FIGURA 3). La cubierta va a encajar en una posicion preestablecida haciendo clic, permitiendo asi destruir documentos de manera segura.* Se puede suministrar el papel tanto por el lado izquierdo como por el lado derecho. Estando ahora abierta la ranura de alimentacion del papel, usted puede destruir hojas de papel o una tarjeta de credito en cada pasada (FIGURA 4). Cuando haya terminado de destruir documentos, puede apretar la seccion designada “apriete para cerrar” en la cubierta, para cerrar la ranura de alimentacion del papel (FIGURA 5). Se recomienda mantener la ranura de alimentacion del papel cerrada cuando la maquina no esta en uso. Esto evitaraque se introduzca algun objeto en la ranura y este sea destruido accidentalmente. *Asegurese de no abrir completamente la cubierta mas alla de la posicion preestablecida, de otra manera la funcion ShredSafe que apaga la maquina seraactivada y la maquina no podra ser operada. La luz verde “Power On” (Maquinaencendida) estara apagada, indicando que la maquina destructora de documentosNO ESTA LISTA para ser utilizada. Auto: Esta posicion permite que la maquina destructora de documentos empiece a trabajar automaticamente cuando se inserta el papel en a boca de la trituradora. Siempre inserte el papel tan derecho como sea posible. Se puede suministrar el papel tanto por el lado izquierdocomo por el lado derecho.Cuando el papel haya pasado a traves de la maquina, esta sedetendra.
