If orders are sent by mail, money or a post office order covering their value, including postage, should be enclosed and the order will then be promptly filled and forwarded by mail or express. DESCRIPTION Machine 114w 120 makes a single thread chain stitch and is especially designed for producing what is known as three thread cording. It is also adapted for two thread cording, <4iinp embroidery, ornamental chain stitching, dro]) or moss stitching, feather stitching, braiding and imitation two needle cordin", combinations of which can be used to produce beautiful ornamental effects 011 waists, suits, cloaks, skirts, dress trimmings, millinerv, uniforms, draperies and a lari^e variety of other articles. The machine has a universal feed movement which enables the operator to stitch in anv direction without turning' the fabric which is beiii” embroidered. The direction of feed is controlled by means of the hand operating lever, located underneath the macli ine. Machine 114wl21 is designed for producing spiral braiding in addition to the variety of effects that can be accomplished 011 Machine 114wl20. It is the same as Machine 114wl20 with the exception that it has "ear shift mechanism for chan^inn the speed of the revolving spool carrier to obtain one, two, three or four stitches to each revolution of the carrier, as desired. Note: The instructions given on the following pages apply to Machines 114wl20 and 114wl21, with the exception of tlie instructions for spiral braiding given on pages 37, 38 and 39, which apply only to Machine 114wl21. Speed A regular transmitter should be used in operating machines 114wl20and 114wl21 which allows the operator on lar^e designs to run the machine at the maximum speed of 1200 stitches per minute and to slow down the speed of the machine to the point where the stop motion, which is part of the machine, can be used. The stop motion is tested to operate up to a maximum speed of (>00 R.I’AI. Where the stop motion is not used at all, the lever Xo. 222594 is removed and the stop motion is made inoperative. 4 he starting', stopping and speed of the machine is controlled by the transmitter. When the machine is in operation the balance wheel should always turn over from the operator. 4 To Oil the Machine When the machine is received from the factory, it should he oroimhlv cleaned and oiled. Needles for Machines 114wl20 and 114w]21 are of Class and Variety 137.xl, and are furnished in special size numbers which are from 1 lo 12. These needles have hooks similar in appearance lo those of hand crochet needles. The needles must be selected according to the thickness and the stvle of the thread to be used. The thread must not only till theopeningof the hook in the needle, but must slide freely therein. To correspond with the needle used in the machine, a suitable nipple must be selected, as the needle, in forming the stitch, has to operate through the nipple. The needle must tit nicely in the nipple and slide freely without Inn ing any side play. Xipples are furnished in size numbers similar to those of the needles, viz.. 1 to 12, and for general work the nipple used should be the same size number as the needle.
