These limits are designed to provide reasonable protection against harmful interference in a residential installation. This equipment generates, uses and can radiate radio frequency energy and, if not installed and used in accordance with the instructions, may cause harmful interference to radio communications. However, there is no guarantee that interference will not occur in a particular installation. If this equipment does cause harmful interference to radio or television reception, which can be determined by turning the equipment off and on, the user is encouraged to try to correct the interference by one or more of the following measures: • Reorient or relocate the receiving antenna. • Increase the separation between the equipment and receiver. • Connect the equipment into an outlet on a circuit different from that to which the receiver is connected. • Consult the dealer or an experienced radio/TV technician for help. Signal Strength Present at the Television The software-based attenuator within the satellite receiver will limit the signal present at your television set to below the FCC signal strength limit of 75.6dBuV. If you choose not to enable the attenuator, you must ensure that the signal strength present at the TV set does not exceed 75.6dBuV. Connecting to an Over-the-Air Antenna In order to receive local broadcast channels, you may wish to install an over-the-air antenna into your over-the-air tuner or TV distribution equipment. There are many devices that allow you to connect your antenna to your in-home distribution system such as splitters and amplifiers. You must be careful to meet certain FCC regulations with respect to the isolation between the antenna port and the network port of your system. It is recommended that you purchase a splitter or amplifier with the correctly specified isolation from your local satellite television retailer. 138 IndexIndex A Account Information 4 Address, Remote Control Changing 58 Checking 59 Adult Content, Hiding 46 Antenna Dish 91 Over-the-Air 95 Remote Control, Adjusting 60 Remote Control, Attach 15 Remote Control, Attenuator 61 Automatic Timer 54 B Back Panel 19 Batteries, Remote Control 15 Browse Banner 28, 109 Buying a Pay-Per-View 34 C Caller ID 75 History List 76 Menu Screens 75 Setting Up 75 Troubleshooting 113 Canceling a Procedure 21 Changing Channels 26, 107 Changing Languages 76, 113 Channel Locks 45 Check Switch 101 Checking the Device Codes 65 Checking the Remote Control Address 59 Closed Captioning 13, 77 Closing Menus 20 Combination Devices 62 Connecting a VCR to the Remote TV 94 Connecting Over-the-Air/Cable TV 95 Connecting to the Nearby TV (TV1) 84 HDMI Digital Audio/Video Connections 84 YPbPr Connections 85 Connecting to the Phone Line 92 Connecting to the Remote TVs (TV2) 87 Connecting to Your Dish Antenna 91 Connections, Back Panel 19 Controlling Other Components 61 Controls and Indicators, Receiver Front Panel 19 Conventions, User Guide 3 Customer Support, DISH Network 50 D Deleting a Timer 56 Descriptive Video 76 Device Codes 63, 65, 116 DVD Player 118 DVD/VCR Combo 118 Tuner/Amplifier 117 TV 116 TV/DVD Combo 118 TV/VCR Combo 118 VCR 117 Device Codes Scan 64 Diagnostics 100 Dish Antenna 91 DISH Network Account, Your 4 DishHOME 6 Dolby Surround Sound 78 Dual Mode 11 DVD Player Codes 118 DVD/VCR Combo Device Codes 118 F Factory Defaults 80 Favorites Lists 13, 38, 111 Finding a Program to Watch 5 Front Panel 19, 47 H HDMI Digital Audio/Video Connections 84 Hiding Adult Content 46 Highlighting Options in a Menu 20 I Improving Receiver Control 58 Adjusting the Remote Antenna 60 Changing Remote Control 2 Address 58 Inactivity Standby 81 139 Index K Keyboard, Virtual On-Screen 22 L Languages, Changing 76 Limited Mode 62 List of Choices in Menus 21 Locking Pay-Per-View Channels 45 Locking the Front Panel 47 Locks (Parental Controls) Channel Locks 45 Creating or Changing a Password 43 Hiding Adult Content 46 Locking and Unlocking the Front Panel 47 Locking and Unlocking Your Receiver 43 Locking and Unlocking Pay-Per-View Channels 45 Ratings Locks 44 Locks (Parental Controls) 42 Low Battery Warning 15 M Manual Timer 55 Menus 20 Canceling a Procedure 21 Highlighting Options 20 List of Choices 21 Opening and Closing 20 Selecting Options on 20 Troubleshooting 115 Using the Receiver’s 20 Message Numbers 105 Mode Light 11, 12 Modes Dual 11 Single 11, 12 Switching Between 13 N Naming Favorites Lists 39 Nearby...
