This release notes document describes the modifications and known issues for Patch 05. This is a
recommended patch and is only intended to be applied to HP 3PAR OS 3.1.2.322 (MU1). Only an
authorized HP Service Provider should perform this maintenance procedure.
1.1 Supported platforms
The HP 3PAR Configuration Matrix for HP 3PAR OS 3.1.2 contains information about supported
hardware and software platforms. For a list of supported versions of each operating system, see the
Single Point of Connectivity Knowledge (SPOCK) website http://www.hp.com/storage/spock.
1.2 Verifying the patch installation
The installation of Patch 05 can be verified from an Interactive CLI session. Issue the CLI command
showversion -a -b to verify that Patch 05 is listed.

NOTE:
Applying this patch to the HP 3PAR OS might restart the affected OS components. With these
restarts, events and alerts might be generated and this is an expected behavior. The system continues
to serve data, but existing CLI or IMC sessions might be interrupted.

Issue of false DIF error
The LSO SAS host adaptor used on an HP 3PAR StoreServ 7000 Storage
reporting is resolved.
system sometimes reports a false DIF error. To address this, the PD layer
attempts to read from the alternate path of the PD. If the PD layer can read
successfully from the alternate path, this error is counted as a false DIF error.
If large number of such errors happen in a short period of time, the primary
path of the PD fails over. If both the paths to the PD report a DIF error, then
the error is considered as a legitimate DIF error, and the drive fails in
accordance with existing handling of DIF errors.
