A tape recorded in S-VHS format will play the same as a tape recorded in normal format. This unit detects whether the tape is recorded in S-VHS format or in normal format. • If the tape you want to play is already in the VCR, make sure the VCR power is on and the VCR is in VCR position. (The VCR light will appear on the display panel. If it does not, press the VCR/TV button once.) Press the VCR button, then press the PLAY/o button. • Other playback options and fea- tures are on pages 38-45. • When you play a tape recorded in S-VHS format on this unit, you can not get the high resolution that would be available on an S-VHS VCR. Noise lines (black and white streaks) may appear on the picture. • If REPEAT PLAY is set to ON, play- back will begin automatically, even when the record tab is intact. Helpful Hints 30 Recording Read and follow the steps below to record a television program. 1Turn on the TV. 12Insert a tape in the VCR. Turn on the TV and set it to channel 3 or 4, whichever channel the CH3/CH4 switch on the back of the VCR is set to. 4 2 Insert a tape with its record tab intact in the VCR. 3 3 Press the VCR button. 9 4 If the VCR light appears on the display panel, go to step 5. If the VCR light does not appear, press the VCR/TV button once. 6 5 Press the SPEED button until the desired tape speed 5 8appears briefly on the screen.
