• In the SMART AUTO mode. • After using the Quick View function. 7 basic recording RECORDING WITH EASE FOR BEGINNERS (SMART AUTO MODE) WTUser-friendly SMART AUTO optimises your camcorder to the recording conditions automatically, providing beginners with the best performance. PRECHECK! Select the Record ( / ) mode by pressing the MODE button. .page 24 1. Touch the SMART AUTO ( AUTO ) touch button. • The SMART AUTO ( AUTO ) and Anti-Shake(HDIS) ( ) icons appear on the screen at the same time. 2. Adjust the subject on the LCD screen. • The camcorder detects the subject and automatically selects a type of scene. • According to the detected type of scene, the corresponding icon will appear. : Appears when recording landscape. : Appears when recording with a very bright background. : Appears when recording a night scene. : Appears when recording a portrait outdoors at night. : Appears when recording indoors. : Appears when recording a portrait. : Appears when recording a close-up. 3. To cancel SMART AUTO mode, touch the SMART AUTO ( AUTO) touch button again. • The SMART AUTO( AUTO) and Anti-Shake(HDIS) ( ) icons disappear from the screen. • Unavailable buttons during SMART AUTO operation: MENU button / OK button/ etc. Most settings are automatically adjusted in SMART AUTO mode. To set or adjust functions on your own, release the SMART AUTO mode first. 0:00 00 475M n STBY M9999 According to the detected type of scene, the corresponding icon will appear. • SMART AUTO must be set before recording. • When there is no detected scene, the ( AUTO ) icon appears. • The camcorder may not detect the Portrait mode when recording a face, depending on a position of the face or brightness. • Depending on conditions such as lighting, shake of the camcorder, or distance to the subject, the same scene mode could be detected differently. • When recording more than two scenes at the same time, SMART AUTO icon priority order is showed as below: Night Portrait > Portrait > Macro > White > Landscape > Night > Indoor For example, a) If Portrait and Indoor occur at the same time, Portrait is activated. 8 b) If Night Portrait and Night occur at the same time, Night Portrait is activated. If this occurs, use “Manual Focus.” .page 58 • It is recommended to use Anti-Shake (HDIS) with handheld recording if the subject is zoomed in and enlarged. • Frequent use of the zoom function consumes more power. • Zooming during a recording may record operation sound of the zoom lever or zoom button. • When using the zoom function, its speed can be decreased by slowly moving the Zoom (W/T) lever. A fast moving increases the zoom speed. However, the Zoom (W/T) button on the display cannot adjust the zoom speed. 9 basic playback • You can view recorded videos and photos in thumbnail index view and play them in various ways. In the thumbnail index view, you can directly select and display a desired image without using fast forwarding and rewinding. • This camcorder provides one combined video and photo record mode. You can easily record videos or photos in the same mode without having to change it. CHANGING THE PLAYBACK MODE • Pressing the MODE button changes the operation mode to Record ( / ) and Play ( ) mode in turn. • The recorded videos or photos are displayed in thumbnail index view. According to the previous record mode, recordings will be stored in videos or photos thumbnail index view, respectively. When switching to Play mode after recording a video, the videos thumbnail index view appears. When switching to Play mode after recording a photo, the photos thumbnail index view appears.
