• Set [WHITE BAL.] to [AUTO] or [ONE PUSH] under white or cool white fluorescent lamps. • The setting returns to [AUTO] after you remove the power source for more than five minutes. Using the Setup items AUTO SHUTTER AUTO SHUTTER Automatically activates the electronic shutter to adjust the shutter speed when recording in bright conditions if you set it to [ON] (the default setting). SPOT FOCUS You can select and adjust the focal point to aim it at a subject not located in the center of the screen. SPOT FOCUS STBY AUTO END 1 Touch the subject on the screen. 9 appears. 2 Touch [END]. To adjust the focus automatically, touch [AUTO]t[END] in step 1. • If you set [SPOT FOCUS], [FOCUS] is automatically set to [MANUAL]. • The setting returns to [AUTO] after you remove the power source for more than five minutes. When you want to record a subject at close range, move the power zoom lever to W (wide angle), then adjust the focus. • The minimum distance required between your camcorder and the subject to get a sharp focus is about 1 cm (about 1/2 inch) for wide angle and about 80 cm (about 2 5/8 feet) for telephoto. • The setting returns to [AUTO] after you remove the power source for more than five minutes. FLASH SET (DCR SR50E/SR60E/ SR70E/SR80E) You can set this function when you use an external flash (optional) that is compatible with your camcorder. Attach the external flash to the Active Interface Shoe (p.73). x FLASH MODE BON Always flashes when recording still images. ON Always pre-flashes to reduce redeye phenomenon, then flashes when recording still images AUTO Always flashes automatically. SUPER NSPLUS (Super NightShot plus) You can record images at a maximum of 16 times the sensitivity of NightShot plus indark places. Set [SUPER NSPLUS] to [ON] while the NIGHTSHOT PLUS switch is set to ON. and [“SUPER NSPLUS”] flash on the screen. To cancel the setting, set [SUPER NSPLUS] to [OFF]. • Do not use NightShot plus and [SUPER NSPLUS] in bright places. This may cause a malfunction. • Do not cover the infrared port with your fingers or other objects (p.32). • Remove the conversion lens (optional). • Adjust the focus manually ([FOCUS], p.50), when it is hard to focus automatically. • The shutter speed of your camcorder changes depending on the brightness. The motion of the image may slow down at this time. NS LIGHT (NightShot Light) You can record clearer images with the light which emits infrared light while using NightShot plus. The default setting is [ON]. • Do not cover the infrared port with your fingers or other objects (p.32). • Remove the conversion lens (optional). • The maximum shooting distance using [NS LIGHT] is about 3 m (10 feet). COLOR SLOW S (Color Slow Shutter) You can record an image brighter in color even in dark places. Set [COLOR SLOW S] to [ON]. and [COLOR SLOW SHUTTER] flash on the screen. To cancel [COLOR SLOW S], touch [OFF]. • Adjust the focus manually ([FOCUS], p.50), when it is hard to focus automatically. • The shutter speed of your camcorder changes depending on the brightness. The motion of the image may slow down at this time. SELF-TIMER The self-timer starts recording a movie after about 10 seconds. Press START/STOP when [ SELF-TIMER] is set to [ON] ( ). To cancel the count down, touch [RESET]. To cancel the self-timer, select [OFF]. • You can also use the self-timer with START/ STOP on the Remote Commander (DCR-SR50E/ SR60E/SR70E/SR80E) (p.38).
