The items are copied to the disc. • To play the disc on other DVD equipment, finalise the disc. For details, see steps 2 to 7 of “Playing the Disc on Other DVD Equipment (Finalise)” on page 74. z To format DVD-RWs/DVD-Rs, see page 81. b • You cannot copy files on the HDD to USB devices. • You cannot copy files to a recordable DVD that has been recorded using other recorders/devices. • DATA DVDs finalised on this recorder may not be able to play on other equipment. • You cannot copy a slideshow to a disc. • When copying more than 2 folder layers, only up to 2 folder layers can be copied on to the disc. Playback Erasing and Editing Erasing and Editing You can edit titles on the HDD. b • Titles on DVDs cannot be edited. For DVDRWs/ DVD-Rs (VR mode), titles can be erased. • You may lose the edited contents if you remove the disc or a timer recording starts while editing. • If a message appears and indicates that the disc’s control information is full, erase or edit unnecessary titles. • The remaining disc space displayed on the screen may differ from the actual remaining disc space. • You cannot erase or edit titles during recording. Erasing and Editing a Title This section explains the basic edit functions. Note that editing is irreversible. To edit titles without changing the original recordings, create a Playlist title (page 69). 1 Press TITLE LIST. 2 Select a title, and press the red button (“Edit”). The sub-menu appears. 3 Select an option, and press . You can make the following edits to the title. “Erase”: Erases the selected titles (page 67). “Dubbing”: Displays the Dubbing List (page 71). “Rename”: Allows you to change the title name (page 68). “Protection”: Protects the selected titles. “ ” appears next to the protected titles. “A-B Erase”: Erases a section of the title (page 67). “Divide”: Divides a title into two titles (page 68). “New Playlist”: Creates a playlist (page 69). “Select All”: Selects all titles. “Unselect All”: Clears all check marks. Erasing a title (Erase) Erasing a title (Erase) RVRRWVR 1 Press TITLE LIST. 2 Select the title you want to erase using M/m. To erase the selected title only, go to step 5. 3 Press MARKER. A check mark appears next to the selected title. • To clear the check mark, press MARKER again. 4 Repeat steps 2 and 3 to select all of the titles you want to erase. 5 Press the red button (“Edit”) to select “Erase,” and press . The display asks for confirmation. 6 Select “Yes,” and press . The selected titles are erased. b Titles on DVD+RWs/DVD+Rs or DVD-RWs/ DVD-Rs (Video mode) cannot be erased. Erasing a section of a title (A-B Erase) HDD You can select a section (scene) in a title and erase it. Note that erasing scenes in a title cannot be undone. 1 Press TITLE LIST. 2 Select the title you want to partially erase using M/m. 3 Press the red button (“Edit”) to select “A-B Erase,” and press . The “A-B Erase” display appears. 4 Press N to start playback. 5 Select point A using m/M, etc., and press (“Start”). The start point (point A) is set. 6 Select point B, and press (“End”).
