Adopting the newly developed filter, it can drastically change the harmonic contents without affecting the fundamental, creating tight sound which makes it useful even for a bass guitar or a keyboard. The Cutoff Frequency Knob controls the cutoff frequency of the filter and the Q control adjusts the peak level of the filter, making wide variety of effect from soft filter effect to hard wow sound. The Mode Switch allows to select Up, Down or Manual Filter mode. By connecting the Expression Pedal (EV-5) to the Expression In Jack, the FT-2 can be used as a Wow Pedal. Please read the instructions carefully. FT-2 Dynamic Filter PANEL DESCRIPTION Check Indicator Sens Knob Cutoff Frequency Knob Output Jack Pedal Switch 4*oumjr INPUT 4» EXP IN 4- Dynamic Filter ft AC Adaptor Jack Mode Selector Knob Q Control Knob ]}—• Input Jack |j*—• Expression In Jack * Thumb Screw Check Indicator This indicator serves as battery check and effect on/off When the effect is on, the indicator lights up. * When the indicator lights dimmer or does not light at all, replace the battery with a new one. Sens Knob This adjusts the depth of the wow effect. As it is rotated clockwise, the wow can be obtained even with a weak picking, and as rotated counterclockwise, the effect is engaged only with a strong picking. * The guitar's volume is affected by the type of the pickup, so the optimum position of the Sens Knob varies depending on the type of the guitar you use and your playing manner. Cutoff Frquency Knob This knob controls the cutoff frequency of the filter. Rotating it clockwise increases the frequency and vice versa. Output Jack Connect the Output Jack to an amplifier or other effect unit. Pedal Switch Pressing the pedal turns on or off the effect. (Adopting the FET switch, it is free from click noise.) AC Adaptor Jack Connect the BOSS ACA-120, 220 or 240 adaptor to this jack for long hour operation without worrying the battery consumption. Mode Selector Knob This selects one of the three filter modes: two Dynamic modes Up and Down or Manual. In the Dynamic mode "UP", the filter's cutoff frequency increases by higher guitar level, and in the"DOWN"mode it decreases. In the Manual mode, the filter's cutoff frequency is not affected by the input level, but can be changed with the Cutoff Frequency Knob. Therefere, this mode can be selected for tone controling. Also, when using the Expression Pedal, select this mode. * tn the Manual mode, the Sens Knob does not work Q Control Knob This knob sets the peak level of the filter. Rotating the knob clockwise increases the peak level, making the curve steeper, therefore deepens the wow effect. Rotating the knob counterclockwise creates softer sound. * Increasing the peak level too much will distort the sound. Input Jack This is to connect to a guitar or other electronic musical instrument. * Plugging in the Input Jack turns the unit on. When the unit is not to be used, be sure to disconnect the cord. Expression In Jack Connect the Expression Pedal (EV-5) to this jack. * Please do not use the Expression Pedal other than the Roland EV-5. or the FT-2 will not work properly. Thumb Screw Loosen the Thumb Screw and open the pedal for battery replacement. * Please do not remove the screw from the pedal in case you lose it. II II II III Keyboard Expression Pedal (EV-5) ^ When the unit is not to be used, be sure to disconnect the connection cord from the Input Jack. ^ OPERATION Dynamic Mode 1 CHECK 0 Make all the necessary connections and set the controls on the panel as shown left. Press the pedal switch to turn the effect on. * When the indicator is lighted, the effect is on. ‘ This indicator also serves as battery check. When it lights dimmer or does not fight at all, replace the battery. UMUAl/tlP-DTMâMcf Set the Mode Selector Switch to UP or DOWN. 4 SENS By rotating the Sens Knob, adjust the sensitivity of the effect. Adjust the peak level by rotating the Q Control Knob. CUTOFF FREO CUTOFF FREO Rotating the Cutoff Frequency Knob, set the cutoff frequency of the filter. Set the Mode Selector Switch to the MANUAL/EXP position. Set the Q Control Knob to the appropriate position, then select the frequency to be boosted by using the Q Control Knob. * In the Manual mode, the Sens Knob does not work. Wow Pedal 1 Connect the Expression Pedal (EV-5) to the Expression In Jack. ’ Be sure that the Minimum Volume on the EV-5 is set to zero.
