Workarounds
Pegasus CIM Object Manager command (cimuser, cimauth, cimprovider, cimsub etc)
crash during configuration of CIM Server
Symptoms: Occasionally during configuration of CIM Object Manager commands such as cimuser,
cimauth etc may crash inconsistently.
Workaround:
1.
Set Pegasus CIM Object Manager service to automatic restart mode.
2.
Open a new command prompt and try to execute the command. Repeat this step if the command
fails.
Or, alternatively use wbemexec tool as described in SMI-S Provider Installation Guide to configure
CIM Server.
Found in version: 3.7.00
Installation sequence for HP Command View EVA 9.4 and HP Command View TL 2.7
or 2.8 on the same server
Symptoms: Installation or upgrade of HP Command View EVA 9.4 and HP Command View TL 2.7 or
2.8 on the same server does not succeed.
Workaround:
For installation: Install HP Command View EVA 9.4 first, then install HP Command View TL 2.7 or 2.8.
For upgrade: first, upgrade HP Command View EVA 9.3 to HP Command View EVA 9.4; second,
upgrade HP Command View TL 2.6 to HP Command View TL 2.7 or 2.8.

Upgrading HP Command View EVA 9.2 to HP Command View EVA 9.3 when Command
View TL 2.6 is installed on the same server
Symptoms: If CVTL 2.6 and CV EVA 9.2 co-exist on the system and CV EVA 9.2 is upgraded to CV
EVA 9.3, the SMI-S Tape Provider files will be deleted. SMI-S Tape Provider will not function and
Storage Essentials discovery will fail.
Workaround: To prevent this issue:
1.
Manually create a backup of the folder in which Tape Provider is installed (for example copy the
contents of C:\Program Files\Hewlett-Packard\SMI-S\TapeProvider to a different
location).
2.
Upgrade to CV EVA 9.3.
3.
Copy and paste the backup file to the original Tape Provider location (for example, copy the
Tape Provider folder back to C:\Program Files\Hewlett-Packard\SMI-S).
4.
Run RegisterTLProvider.bat from the \TapeProvider\bin folder to register Tape
Provider.
5.
Restart the SMI-S services (CIM Object Manager).

Uninstallation sequence for HP Command View EVA 9.4 and HP Command View TL
2.7 or 2.8 on the same server
When using HP Command View EVA 9.4 and HP Command View for Tape Libraries 2.8 are on the
same server, any un-installation sequence of Command View TL and Command View EVA is supported.
