Do not place unit on metal shelving. Air purifier may be placed on floor, nightstand, table or desk. Make sure that the outlet grille faces away from the nearest wall or furniture. 4. Make sure that the intake and outlet grilles are not blocked. 5. Plug into a grounded 120V outlet. See manual SAFETY INSTRUCTIONS. 6. Turn control knob to desired setting LOW, MED, HIGH. Operating Instructions 1. Turn control knob to desired setting. 2. Select setting LOW for quieter operation or use in the bedroom. 3. Select setting MED to operate the air purifier on a continuous use. 4. Select setting HIGH when high levels of air pollutants are present to quickly circulate and filter the room air. 5. The Red Air Purifier Power Light will illuminate red when power is ON. 6. Blue UV Indicator Light will illuminate blue when power is ON. NOTE: Both red and blue lights will illuminate when power is ON. If the blue UV indicator light does not illuminate blue when red power light is turned ON then the UV light needs to be replaced (see page 9). REPLACING THE HEPA FILTER On an average the HEPA Filter needs to be replaced every 3-6 months. Filter life will depend on air quality and usage. 1. ALWAYS turn off and unplug air purifier from power outlet before replacing the filter. 2. Remove each of the filters from the unit by pulling gently toward you. 3. To replace the HEPA filter, discard the old HEPA filter. DO NOT ATTEMPT to clean the HEPA filter. Place the washable particle filter back on the new HEPA Filter. Insert the new HEPA filter into the unit by sliding it into place. 4. To close the rear door, place bottom rear door tab into tab slot and close door. DO NOT FORCE DOOR TO CLOSE! PLEASE NOTE that if there is any uneven closure at the bottom of the rear door the door is not closed securely. You will need to insert bottom tab again into slot and close door again. The rear door must be evenly flush with the air purifier body NOTE: Replacement HEPA Filter Set #HS-1934 (set includes HEPA filter with carbon filter inside HEPA filter, particle filter and photocatalyst filter) can be purchased from the same retailer you purchased the Crane Air Purifier. 8 REPLACING THE GERMICIDAL UV LIGHT A WARNING: Always make sure that the air purifier is turned OFF and UNPLUGGED from power outlet before replacing UV light. Always use caution when handling the UV light to prevent accidental breaking of the bulb. NEVER touch the glass part of the light. Oil from fingers will reduce the germicidal performance of the UV light. Always use gloves or handle the light only by the metal area on the light. DO NOT use a vacuum to pick up broken bulb glass or handle broken bulb with your hands. Sweep debris into a plastic bag and dispose properly. Contact your local waste management authority for instruction regarding recycling and the proper disposal of the old light(s). The UV bulb is designed to provide approximately one year continuous operation. After one year the UV Light's effectiveness is greatly reduced. For maximum germicidal protection replace after a year or if the blue UV light does not illuminate when the UV switch is ON. Please refer to page 5 fig. 2. NOTE: Refer to instruction manual Order Form to purchase replacement UV light.
