Resumen del manual

Supported vMedia Functionality
HP-UX 11iv2 and 11iv3 support the use of iLO/vMedia for optical devices and for ISO images.
vMedia can be used to install HP-UX from a remote DVD or for read-only post installation DVD
related tasks such as application installation. vMedia support on HP-UX is limited to the platforms
and operating system versions outlined below.
Supported Platforms
Use of iLO/vMedia is supported on the following platforms:

Any system with Integrated Lights-Out 3

HP Integrity BL860c blade
o
directly: both in HP BladeSystem c7000 and HP BladeSystem c3000
o
through Onboard Administrator with OA firmware version 2.10 or later and iLO firmware
version T.02.XY and later: both in HP BladeSystem c7000 (with an external DVD) and
HP BladeSystem c3000 (with the optional internal DVD)

HP Integrity rx2660 server

HP Integrity rx3600 server

HP Integrity rx6600 server

HP Integrity rx7640 server (with HP Lights out advanced KVM card – AD307A)

HP Integrity rx8640 server (with HP Lights out advanced KVM card – AD307A)

HP Integrity Superdome servers using the sx2000 chipset (with HP Lights out advanced
KVM card – AD307A)
Note: The recommended iLO firmware version for the rx2660, rx3600, and rx6600 is F.01.58 or
later.
Supported Operating System Versions
The following patches provide the most complete iLO/vMedia support:

PHKL_39820 (or newer) for 11iv3

PHKL_39269 (or newer) for 11iv2
Limited iLO/vMedia support is also enabled by the following HP-UX releases:

HP-UX 11iv3 OE Update for September 2007
o
see “11iv3 OE Update for September 2007 Note” below

HP-UX 11iv2 OE Update for December 2007

HP-UX 11iv2 OE Update for June 2007
o
On some hardware configurations, HP-UX operating system installation using
iLO/vMedia may halt after the install kernel has booted and state that it could not find
the source device. If that happens, the installation will not succeed and the customer
must use the HP-UX 11iv2 OE Update for December 2007 instead. If the install kernel
does find the source device, then the installation will proceed as normal to completion.
General Limitations
The iLO/vMedia solution transfers are constrained by the data path through the iLO hardware and
firmware stack. If data transfer performance is critical, HP recommends ordering factory installation,
using network installation, or using a directly attached drive.
The iLO/vMedia solution is a read only solution for optical devices. DVDs cannot be written using
this interface.
