NOTE
CRITICAL UPDATE REQUIRED!
You must update Microsoft® Windows Server™ 2003, Datacenter Edition or Enterprise
Edition with SP1 for Itanium-based Systems to the latest IA-32 EL software version
(5.3.5338.0 or higher). In rare instances, failure to update to this new software can result
in serious consequences such as data integrity issues or other unexpected system
behavior when running 32 bit applications. For more information, refer to the Microsoft
Knowledge Base article 899755.

NOTE
You must install the HP Integrity Support Pack software first, before you install the
Windows Server 2003 Service Pack 1 software. If you load SP1 first, the OS will fail to
reboot following the installation of SP1.
Always install the HP Integrity Support Pack first. Then install Windows Server 2003
Service Pack 1.
To install SP1:
On Windows Server 2003, Datacenter Edition
When you receive the HP Datacenter SP1 Update DVD, insert the DVD in the drive of an
HP Integrity server and allow autolaunch to start the browser-based interface.
• To install HP Integrity Support Pack and Windows Server 2003 SP1 together
(recommended), select Express Install.
OR
• To install them separately, select Custom Install.
On Windows Server 2003, Enterprise Edition
Updating your Windows Server 2003, Enterprise Edition system to SP1 involves
installing the HP Integrity Support Pack and then installing SP1:
• Download HP Integrity Support Pack version 3.25 or higher from the HP Integrity
support site:
http://www.hp.com/support/itaniumservers/
• Install HP Integrity Support Pack on your Integrity server.
• Download Microsoft Windows Server 2003 SP1 for 64-bit Itanium-based systems
from Microsoft’s web site:
http://www.microsoft.com/windowsserver2003/downloads/servicepacks/sp1/default.m
