To select the picture preferences: 1. Press MENU, then press x or • to highlight the PREFERENCES menu. 2. Press y or z to highlight PICTURE PREFERENCES. 3. Press x or • to highlight the mode you want. The table below describes the effects of the different preferences. Displaying on-screen information Press RECALL to display the following on-screen information: • Antenna mode (when in TV mode) • Channel number or VIDEO mode selected • Channel label (if preset) • Stereo or SAP (second audio program) audio status yz x • • V-Chip rating status Menu Setting the off-timer You can set the TV so it turns off automatically. Exit To set the off-timer: 1. Press MENU, then press x or • to select the SET UP menu. Press y or z to select the TIMER. 3. Press x or • to select the off time (10-180 minutes, in 10-minute increments). 4. Press EXIT to exit the menu. To cancel the off-timer: Press POWER twice, once to turn the TV off, and once to turn it on again. Auto power off The TV will automatically turn itself off after approximately 15 minutes if it is tuned to a vacant channel or if a station completes its broadcast for the day and stops broadcasting on that channel. This feature, however, does not work in the VIDEO mode. Using the closed caption feature You have two options with the closed caption feature: captions or text. A caption is a printed version of the dialogue, narration and/or sound effects of a TV program. Text is information not related to the program that appears on half of the TV screen. To view captions or text: 1. Select the desired program. The captioned programs are usually marked in your local TV listing by “CC.” 2. Press MENU, then press x or • until the C.CAPT menu appears.
